After Paris 2024 Olympics conquest, Ogunleye chases first Diamond League win to Lausanne

Olympics Shot Put champion, Yemisi Ogunleye will be seeking to transfer her conquest at the Paris 2024 Olympics stage to the Wanda Diamond League stage, athletics’ premier one-day series when she takes to the field of the Stade Olympique de la Pontaise in Lausanne, Switzerland on Sunday.

The 25 year old, born to a Nigerian father and a German mother, made history as the first German in 28 years (after Astrid Kumbernuss) to win the Shot Put title, will be aiming for her first win in the series.

She came closest to winning in May when she placed second at the Meeting International Mohammed VI d’Athlétisme de Marrakech, the fourth leg of the series.

She is fifth in the standings with 11 points following her fifth-place finish in Xiamen in April and second place finish in Marrakech.

A win for the German Nigerian will take her total points haul to 19 and confirm her place in what will be her first Diamond League final.
