Ahmed Musa named Kano Pillars’ General Manager

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has announced the appointment of former Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, as the new General Manager of Kano Pillars Football Club, marking a strategic leadership move ahead of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

The decision, confirmed in a statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, follows the expiration of the one-year tenure of the previous management board. After consultations with key stakeholders in the football community, the government approved a reconstitution aimed at reinvigorating the historic club’s leadership.

The newly restructured 17-member board is now chaired by Ali Muhammad Umar (Nayara), with several returning and fresh members joining to strengthen the club’s administrative and competitive capabilities.

Abubakar Isah Dandago Yamalash and Ismail Abba Tangalash will continue to serve as Media Directors I and II, respectively.

A major highlight of the board’s restructuring is the appointment of Ahmed Musa as General Manager. Having played for Kano Pillars during the early stages of his career, Musa has since become an international football icon, representing Nigeria at multiple FIFA World Cups and playing in elite leagues across Europe and Asia.

His appointment is expected to bring new vision, global recognition, and a culture of professionalism to Kano Pillars FC. Governor Yusuf expressed strong confidence in the impact Musa will make:

‘The inclusion of Ahmed Musa reflects our desire to blend administrative competence with football experience. We believe his presence will inspire players, attract investment, and rekindle supporters’ enthusiasm.’
