Ajayi Nets on Ninth AFCON Start to Fire Nigeria Ahead Vs Tanzania

Semi Ajayi ended a two-year goal drought for Nigeria as he struck to break the deadlock in the Super Eagles’ Africa Cup of Nations Group C opener at the Fès Stadium in Morocco.

Ajayi’s header marked his first goal at the tournament, coming on his ninth start in 10 AFCON appearances.
Ajayi, now featuring in his third AFCON after debuting in 2022, delivered a crucial moment for Nigeria as they sought to establish early momentum in Morocco 2025.
His tally for the national team now stands at two goals in 48 appearances, the first having come in November 2023 during a 1-1 draw against Lesotho at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo in a 2026 World Cup qualifier.
