Akor Adams Inspired by Kanouté as Sevilla Raise His Value

Akor Adams has underlined his growing importance at Sevilla by revealing the player he looks up to most at the club: Frédéric Kanouté.

The Nigerian striker admitted that he has studied the Malian’s contribution during his time at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán and is working to improve in one of the great strengths that made Kanouté a legend in Nervión.

‘I’ve seen some of his clips and some of his videos. Before coming to Sevilla, I tried to see players who have passed through here and who did great things. He is African, from Mali, so as I represent the club as a Nigerian as well, I try to look at his history. For me he is a great legend of the club,’ Adams explained.

Adams has become a key figure for Sevilla after a difficult start, and his confidence has been boosted by his recent Africa Cup of Nations experience with Nigeria.

He featured in every match of the tournament, which he described as a privilege and a major step in his career, even though the Super Eagles fell short of winning the trophy.

The striker also emphasized the trust he feels from Sevilla’s management and coach Matías Almeyda, who he credits with helping him balance his responsibilities at club and international level.

‘Playing for the national team is good, but when I come back here it’s about Sevilla and that also helps me keep my feet on the ground,’ he said.

Sevilla have reportedly raised Adams’ price amid interest from Saudi Arabia, a sign of his rising stock in European football.
