Akor Adams registered with LaLiga, could make LaLiga debut Vs Getafe: Sevilla coach, Pimienta says Nigerian is ready to play and perform well
Sevilla coach, Garcia Pimienta says Nigerian striker Akor Adams has been registered as a new Sevilla FC player this Friday and could make his LaLiga debut this Saturday having completed two training sessions with the group.
The Nigerian was announced on Monday as a new Sevilla player but was unable to train with the rest of his new teammates until Thursday due to bureaucratic problems.
The striker who will wear the number 15 jersey is already listed on the official LaLiga website as a new Sevilla player and is in his team’s squad that travelled to Getafe for Saturday’s LaLiga fixture.
‘He (Akor) has just been training and will be in the squad on Saturday. He is ready to play and perform well.
‘He has done two good training sessions, and he has to adapt to the language and the way of training and playing. It will be progressive, but he can’t wait to get started. He is a good lad, and it is a very good opportunity for him to be in Sevilla,’ Pimienta said at his pre-match press conference.
Pimienta said he does not yet know if Akor’s arrival could mean playing two strikers upfront.
‘I have to adapt myself to the strengths of the squad. If we see that we can be more direct and offensive with two strikers than with one, we will do it.
‘At the moment he’s been training for a couple of days, he has to understand our way and I’m sure he will. He is in great shape and little by little he will adapt. We expect a lot from Akor because he has the quality to play here and he comes with a desire and hunger that you can see in his eyes. He has the opportunity to play for Sevilla.’
