Akpom scores first Ipswich goal, Ajayi crashes with Hull City

Aribo makes fourth substitute appearance for Southampton

Chuba Akpom finally opened his account for Ipswich Town as the striker netted his first goal for the club in their 2-0 victory over Hull City at the MKM Stadium on Tuesday night in the Sky Bet Championship.

Marcelino Núñez had broken the deadlock in the 69th minute before Akpom doubled the lead four minutes later with a composed finish, ending a 13-match wait since joining the relegated Premier League side in August.

For Hull City, Semi Ajayi returned to the starting line-up, making his fifth start in eight appearances this season, but his presence could not prevent the Tigers from slipping to their sixth defeat in 17 league games.

Elsewhere, at St. Mary’s Stadium, Joe Aribo came off the bench for his fourth substitute appearance of the campaign as Southampton cruised to a 3-0 win over visiting Leicester City.
