Al-Hilal CEO on Osimhen: “We target only those who truly want to join us”
Esteve Calzada, CEO of Al-Hilal, has once again addressed the club’s interest in Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.
In an interview with the BBC, Calzada emphasized that while Al-Hilal remains ambitious and seeks world-class talent, the club is committed to responsible spending and will only pursue players who genuinely desire to be part of the project.
Napoli remains engaged in Osimhen’s potential sale, with previous negotiations between the Saudi club and the Nigerian forward having collapsed.
Despite this setback, Al-Hilal is reportedly preparing an even more lucrative offer to lure Osimhen. However, the club is firm in its stance that signings must be mutually beneficial—not just financially motivated.
“We are aiming for the most important players. We are very ambitious, but we have to see the desire of the player himself, and the transaction has to work both ways,” Calzada stated.
He further explained, “My role is to ensure that the club is run efficiently, with a strong budget for high-level players, but not at any cost. We sometimes abandon negotiations because we want players who are truly eager to join—not just chasing money.”
Al-Hilal’s disciplined approach to transfers underscores its vision of becoming a top footballing destination while maintaining financial responsibility. Whether Osimhen will reconsider and accept a move remains to be seen.
