Aminat Alabi Shines Again: Wins Capital City 10k Race in Lagos

Osheku Athletics Academy, Lagos athlete Aminat Alabi emerged victorious in the women’s event of the Capital City Race 10k, held on Saturday in Ikeja, Lagos State.

The Lagos-based runner, who earlier this month clinched the ₦2,000,000 top prize at the Lagos Women’s Run, continued her winning streak by clocking 35:43:73 to secure her third 10k race victory in November.

For her effort, she earned a ₦500,000 cash prize. Close behind was Blessing Solomon Shambor, finishing in 35:43:74 to claim second place and ₦300,000, while Vivian Obadiah Neyitwe secured third position with a time of 35:55 seconds, receiving ₦200,000.

In the men’s category, Jonathan James took first place with a finishing time of 31 minutes, walking away with ₦500,000. Dabi Irimiaya Dachung came second in 31:12 seconds, earning ₦300,000, while Musa Bala Sati crossed the line third in 31:54 seconds, pocketing ₦200,000.

Reacting after her win, Aminat expressed gratitude for the moral support from her coach and colleagues, noting that her consistent training and hard work paved the way for victory.

Head of Event and Sponsorship, Falokun Folashade, highlighted that the Capital City Race is making waves in promoting fitness and wellness across Nigerian cities.

‘The race is expanding beyond Lagos to other cities like Abuja, Ibadan, and Asaba, promoting healthy awareness and exercise nationwide,’ she said.

She further appreciated the unwavering support of Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, for sponsoring the event and prioritizing the well-being of Lagos residents.
