Amusan, Camacho-Quinn missing as Russell, Nugent and Charlton headline stellar cast at 2025 Millrose Games
Nigeria’s reigning 100m hurdles record holder, Tobi Amusan and former Olympic champion, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn are the two notable absentees as the field for the 60m hurdles event at the 2025 Millrose Games have been announced.
Amusan broke the African record in the 60m hurdles twice last year (7.77 and 7.75) but has not been included in the line up at the New York event in February while Camacho-Quinn is not keen on running indoors and set her lifetime best in the event way back in 2018 (7.95) when she was still in college.
In the absence of the irrepressible duo, a stellar cast has been announced by the organisers with reigning world record holder in the event, Bahamas’ Devynee Charlton leading the charge.
Charlton first set the world record in the event at the same race, running 7.67 before storming to a 7.65 finish in Glasgow to rewrite her own record on her way to winning the World Indoor gold medal.
The Bahamian will have Olympic champion, Masai Russell, 2024 world leader in the 100m hurdles, Ackera Nugent, Paris Olympics 100m hurdles finalist, Grace Stark among others to battle for what will be a title defense for her.
Nugent, the Jamaican holds a 7.72 lifetime best in the event which she achieved in 2023 and was fourth at the event last year while Russell, who holds a 7.75 personal best in the event, raced over the distance several times last year closing with a 7.77 personal season’s best.
Others listed for the race include Stark, fifth at the Olympics last year with a lifetime best of 7.78 in the 60m hurdles, Alaysha Johnson who also made it to the final in Paris (seventh) and Tia Jones, the 2018 World U20 champion who ran 7.67 over the 60m hurdles last year in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
