Amusan Eyes $20,000 Payday in Silesia as Diamond+ Disciplines Announced
Nigerian sprint hurdling sensation Tobi Amusan is set to compete in the 100m hurdles at the upcoming Wanda Diamond League meeting in Silesia, where the discipline has been elevated to Diamond+ status, doubling the top prize money to $20,000.
Amusan, the reigning African record holder and 2022 world champion, has been confirmed for the Silesia leg of the Diamond League, one of the final three series meetings on the Road to the Final. The 100m hurdles is one of four events at Silesia designated as a Diamond+ Discipline, alongside the women’s 400m, men’s 100m, and men’s pole vault.
Under the new prize money structure introduced for the 2025 season, each Diamond League meeting may nominate four Diamond+ Disciplines—two male and two female events—that will offer enhanced prize purses, with the maximum payout for individual winners rising from $10,000 to $20,000.
Amusan’s inclusion in the Silesia lineup puts her in contention for the elevated prize, as she continues her campaign toward the Wanda Diamond League Final, scheduled for August 27–28 in Zurich.
