Amusan Faces Olympic Champion Russell as World’s Best Hurdlers Set for Eugene Showdown
The world’s best women’s 100m hurdlers are set to collide at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene on July 4, in what promises to be one of the highlights of the 2026 Wanda Diamond League season.
Olympic champion Masai Russell will line up against Nigeria’s world record holder Tobi Amusan, Jamaica’s two-time world champion Danielle Williams, and American star Grace Stark at Hayward Field.
The race brings together the most decorated hurdlers of recent years on one stage.
Russell, chasing her first Diamond League title, enjoyed her breakthrough season last year, winning in Silesia with a series record of 12.19.
Competing on home soil in Eugene, she will be joined by Stark, who broke meeting records in Keqiao, Stockholm, and Paris before claiming bronze at the World Championships in Tokyo.
Amusan remains the world record holder with 12.12 and previously dominated the Diamond League, winning three consecutive titles between 2021 and 2023.
Williams, meanwhile, is a seasoned competitor, having won world titles in 2015 and 2023, as well as the Diamond League crown in 2019.
Eugene marks the ninth leg of the 2026 Wanda Diamond League, which begins in Doha on May 8 and concludes with the two-day final in Brussels on September 4–5.
The series spans four continents and 15 cities, bringing together the biggest names in track and field across iconic venues worldwide.
