Amusan: ‘I came out here and said it’s my race to lose!’

Tobi Amusan made history as the second woman to win a hat-trick of Diamond League 100m hurdles title and says she gave more than 100% on a track where she achieved her greatest triumph in track and field last year with a World outdoor title win and a 12.12 world record.

The 26 year old ran 12.33, a personal season’s best, to win the Diamond League 100m hurdles title for the third year running.

Save for the World title she could not defend in Budapest, the Nigerian has now successfully defended four other titles between 2022 and 2023.

She defended her Nigerian Championships, African Championships, Commonwealth Games and now Diamond League titles.

‘I’m just grateful to God, that’s all I can say this season. This win is not about me, it’s for my coach, my family, for everyone who supported me throughout this year. It’s been a rough one and I’m just thankful.’

‘I came out here…and said it’s my race to lose, and I give my all. I said it’s 200 or nothing, because 100% might not have been enough to win today. So I came out here and I told God to give me the strength.’
