Amusan to also battle WADA hurdle at Court of Arbitration for Sports
Sportsnow can reveal today that World Anti-Doping agency also dragged Tobi Amusan to the Court of Arbitration for Sports, CAS some 32 days after the
Athletics Intergrity, AIU, first did.
The AIU was believed to be the only Anti-Doping and anti-corruption body that challenged the first instance decision of the Disciplinary Tribunal that Amusan
had not committed an anti-doping rule violation, ADRV.
It announced on September 15, 2023 on its twitter, now X, handle it has filed an appeal at the CAS against the decision to set the Nigerian free from three
whereabouts failured charge.
Now, it has been revealed that WADA also challenged the first instance decision of the Disciplinary Tribunal in World Athletics v. Tobi Amusan that the
athlete had not committed an ADRV.
This was contained in the list of pending cases at the Court of Arbitration for Sports listed on the website of the AIU.
Sportsnow recalls that many athletics watchers criticized the decision of the AIU to appeal the decision which declares the reigning World 100m hurdles
record holder is not a drugs cheat.
Amusan has repeatedly denied spiking her system with performance enhancers and was able to prove her innocence.
It is generally believed that the 26 year old will scale these hurdles too as she set high sights on becoming the first track athlete to win an Olympic gold
in Paris, France next year.
She made history last year as the first Nigerian to win a World outdoor title and set a world outdoor record.
She followed up this year by becoming only the second athlete to win a hat-trick of 100m hurdles Diamond League titles.
