Ancelotti reveals why Real Madrid didn’t sign Osimhen as Nigerian returns to pre-season training with Napoli

Carlo Ancelotti has revealed Real Madrid’s decision not to sanction a move for Napoli star Victor Osimhen and instead moved for England midfielder, Jude Bellingham.

The Los Blancos was among the number of top clubs the Nigerian was linked with last summer but the LaLiga side never tabled an offer for the 25 year old.

‘No, because I think the club thought that Karim Benzema’s absence could be remedied by purchasing Bellingham,’ Ancelotti told ‘Radio Serie A’ on Monday in an interview.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian has started the pre-season with Napoli while he keeps waiting for offers to leave before the close of the transfer window.

Reports from Italy say Osimhen arrived at Castel Volturno Tuesday morning to undergo medical examinations and start the pre-season under Antonio Conte.

La Repubblica reports that the 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup top scorer was among the first players to arrive at the training centre.

The Nigerian signed a new contract with Napoli at the end of the 202/23 season that ties him to Napoli till June 2026 but will be allowed to go if any club can pay his €130m release clause.

So far, no concrete offer has come even for the Nigerian with Napoli reportedly lowering the release clause to €100m.
