Anthony Joshua Speaks on Tragic Deaths of Trainer and Coach
Anthony Joshua has spoken for the first time about the tragic deaths of his trainer Kevin Latif Ayodele and strength coach Sina Ghami, who lost their lives in a car accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on December 29, 2025.
Joshua, who survived the crash with minor injuries, shared an emotional video on Instagram on Thursday, recalling the devastating moment that claimed the lives of two men he described as his ‘brothers.’
Fighting back tears, the British Nigerian heavyweight thanked fans worldwide for their support and reflected on the bond he shared with Latif and Ghami.
‘We had so many plans to wrap up 2025, and we were on a mission… We went back home, went to see our families, and everything just got flipped upside on its head,’ he said.
Joshua revealed that the three had lived together as housemates, strengthening their friendship beyond the professional sphere. He admitted that while the loss has been traumatic, he finds comfort in believing his friends are ‘on the other side.’
‘One day my time will come, and I’m not scared either at all. It’s actually comforting knowing that I’ve got two brothers on the other side,’ Joshua said, promising to honor their memory. ‘The mission must go on… I understand my duty. I’m gonna do what’s right by them. I’m gonna do what’s right by their family.’
