Aribo is third Eagles star voted official Premier League Man of the Match

Joe Aribo was voted the official Man of the Match in Southampton’s 2-1 defeat of Ipswich town at Portman Road on Saturday.

The Nigerian scored for the third time in 23 appearances in the competition this season to give his side the lead on 21 minutes, but the celebration lasted for 10 minutes following Liam Delap’s equalizer on 31 minutes.

Another Nigerian, Paul Onuachu would later score late into the second half to give Southampton their second Premier League win of the season and first in three months.

For his efforts, the Premier League pundits and fans voted Aribo the best player on the pitch.

Aribo scored once, made one successful dribble and had 80.5% pass completion to get the votes and become the third Nigerian to be voted Man of the Match in the Premier League this season after Ola Aina and Alex Iwobi.

Aina was voted Man of the Match when his club, Nottingham Forest won 2-0 away at Brentford. He scored once in the game, made three interceptions, one successful tackle and 72.4% pass completion.

Fulham’s Alex Iwobi was the first to be voted Man of the Match after guiding the Cottagers to a 3-1 defeat of Brighton at Craven Cottage.

The 28 year old scored twice in the game from his two shots on target, made one key pass and had three successful dribbles.
