Mikel Arteta’s wait for a victory over Liverpool boss Arne Slot goes on after Arsenal and Liverpool played out a tense goalless draw at the Emirates Stadium.
The Spaniard has now faced the Dutchman four times in the Premier League without success, drawing three and losing once, making Slot the only manager to avoid defeat in his first four meetings with Arteta.
The stalemate was the first 0-0 between the two clubs in the league since August 2015, a fixture that has traditionally produced goals with 79 scored across their previous 20 encounters at an average of nearly four per game.
Yet on this occasion, both sides cancelled each other out in a match defined by defensive resilience and missed opportunities.
Arsenal dominated the first half, pushing Liverpool deep and creating promising situations, but they lacked the final pass or finish to break through.
Liverpool, meanwhile, became only the second visiting team to take a point at the Emirates this season after Manchester City, though they did so without registering a single shot on target, their first such blank in the Premier League since March 2010 against Wigan.
The result keeps Arsenal six points clear at the top of the table, while Liverpool will take encouragement from their battling spirit despite their attacking struggles.
For Arteta, however, the narrative remains the same: Slot continues to be a thorn in his side, and the Spaniard will have to wait longer to claim his first win against the Liverpool manager.
