Arsenal 3-1 Southampton: Incredible Saka voted Man-of-the-match, moves three assists clear of Ndidi, Palmer, Salah
Bukayo Saka has been voted the official man-of-the-match in Arsenal’s 3-1 defeat of Southampton in the Premier League match week seven game at the Emirates stadium on Saturday.
The 23 year old scored once and provided two assists on the day to help the Gunners to their 400th home win in the Premier League.
The Nigeria-born winger also had 15 touches in Southampton’s box, won eight possessions, created four big chances and provided seven key passes to get the fans’ vote as the official Premier League player of the match.
He also won three duels, won two fouls and had seven shots with two on target.
This is the third time in seven games this season that Saka has been voted Premier League man-of-the-match. He was the best player on the Gunners’ opening game of the season when he scored and provided an assist in their 2-0 defeat of Wolves at the Emirates stadium.
Saka was also man-of-the-match in Arsenal’s 4-2 defeat of Leicester City last week after he had two shots on target, created four big chances and provided eight key passes and eight successful dribbles.
The England international’s two assists on Saturday evening took his total for the season to seven in seven Premier League games and moves him three clear of the chasing trio of Wilfred Ndidi of Leicester City, Cole Palmer of Chelsea who is expected to be in action against Nottingham Forest on Sunday and Mohammed Salah of Liverpool.
Saka has also moved above Robert Pires and into eighth place in Arsenal’s top 10 list of Premier League assist providers.
