Arsene Wenger Explains Why Man United Beat Arsenal

Arsene Wenger has offered his analysis on why Manchester United overcame Arsenal in a thrilling Premier League clash at the Emirates Stadium.

The former Arsenal manager pointed to a lack of patience and technical cohesion in his old side, qualities he believes United displayed under Michael Carrick.

‘Where Arsenal lacked was patience and technical cohesion which United had. The way they play is convincing. Usually it’s the home team who win at 2-2. I must congratulate Carrick, he has created something,’ Wenger told BeIn Sports.

United came from behind to secure victory, with Matheus Cunha’s long-range strike sealing a five-goal thriller.

Wenger praised Carrick’s impact since taking charge, noting the balance he has instilled in the team.

‘I believe that Carrick has found a good formula that is a good balance between defensive stability and a good technical level. It’s the first time I felt the [Arsenal] centre backs were a bit more nervous and less dominant than usually in the games,’ he said.

Reflecting on Arsenal’s performance, Wenger suggested their goals were more reliant on set pieces and physical battles.

‘The games of Man United they are well built up, good cohesion, and the games of Arsenal were more decided by power and fighting on the corner, for example with the second goal. The first goal, as well, was not clean play. They gave everything Arsenal but lacked a bit, as I said in the first half, the patience and technical cohesion,’ he added.
