Arteta gunning for eighth Premier League manager of the month award
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has been nominated for September’s Premier League manager of the month award.
The Spaniard has won the award seven times since he became manager of the Gunners in December 2019 and will feel confident, he can become the second Arsenal manager after Arsene Wenger (15) to win as many manager of the month awards.
Arteta led Arsenal unbeaten through September starting with a 1-0 win at Tottenham Hotspur as the Spaniard became the first Arsenal manager in the Premier League era to win three consecutive matches away to Spurs.
The Gunners then drew 2-2 with title-rivals Manchester City despite playing all of the second half with 10 men and scored two stoppage-time goals to secure a 4-2 home success over Leicester City in their final fixture for the month.
The last time Arteta won the award was in February 2024 after recording a 100 per cent winning record by beating Liverpool, West Ham United, Burnley and Newcastle United.
The Arsenal manager will battle Liverpool boss, Arne Slot who won three and lost one of four games, Chelsea’s Enzo Maresca who led the west London side to three wins and one draw in the course of the month as well as Alex Iwobi’s manager, Marco Silva who led Fulham to two wins and a draw and Unai Emery of Aston Villa who also won twice and drew one of the three games the club played in September.
