Asisat Oshoala nets seventh goal of her maiden NWSL season
Asisat Oshoala was on target for the seventh time for Bay FC who were crushed 5-1 by reigning National Women’s Soccer League, NWSL, Champions, NJ/NY Gotham FC on Saturday night at the at Red Bull Arena in New Jersey, USA.
The Nigerian had restored parity for her side on 18 minutes after their host got a ninth minute lead. She fired a curling strike into the right corner of NJ/NY Gotham FC goal after receiving a perfectly weighted through ball from Zambia’s Racheal Kundananji.
NJ/NY Gotham FC however scored three second half goals within a spate of four minutes to turn the tide in their favour with Rose Lavelle scoring the fifth goal with six minutes left in regulation time.
The loss did not however change Bay FC’s play off position as the club still sit eighth with three matches remaining.
For Oshoala, the goal was her third straight on the road and she has Oshoala has registered six of her seven goals this season on the road.
The Nigerian’s seven goals make her Bay FC’s top scorer so far this regular season and just the sixth in the NWSL this season.
