Atalanta Confirm Agreement with Atletico Madrid for Lookman

Atalanta have confirmed that an agreement has been reached with Atletico Madrid for the transfer of Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman.

The Italian club’s CEO, Luca Percassi, revealed the latest developments before Atalanta’s Serie A fixture against Como, stating that the deal is now at the stage of being formalized.

Lookman, who has also attracted interest from Turkish giants Fenerbahçe, is set to join Atletico after the Spanish side agreed terms with Atalanta on both the transfer fee and payment structure.

Reports indicate that Atletico will pay €40 million, including €5 million in bonuses, while the player is expected to sign a five-year contract worth €6 million annually plus performance-related incentives.

Speaking on Sunday, Percassi explained: ‘We have verbally agreed with Atletico Madrid on all the details for the transfer of Ademola Lookman. Now we are moving on to the stage of formalizing these articles. This takes some time, but if everything goes as it should, it will be completed in a very short time.’

The move would mark a major step in Lookman’s career, taking him from Serie A to La Liga, where he will play under Diego Simeone and strengthen Atletico’s attacking options.
