Atalanta won’t consider offers for Lookman in January

Italian outlet Tutto Mercato says Atalanta are unlikely to consider any offers for on-form Ademola Lookman in the January transfer window.

The Nigerian returned to action with his national team and scored twice in the 3-0 defeat of the Cheetahs of Republic of Benin in a 2925 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

He played his first game for his Serie A club in the 3-2 defeat of Fiorentina, scoring once and assisting another goal.

The former Everton and Fulham player was linked with Arsenal and PSG during the transfer window, a situation that led to the player asking not to be selected by Atalanta.

The Bergamo side however insisted they will keep their Europa League hero and will be happy they did as the Nigerian seems to have started where he left off last season when he scored the three goals that gave Atalanta the Europa League trophy.

Tutto Mercato is now saying Atalanta are adamant about not wanting to sell the winger in the middle of the season and will keep hold of him until at least next summer.

The Italian club will only consider offers for Lookman again at the end of the season and will hope his value continues to rise.

Lookman is expected to be in action when his club host Arsenal in a UEFA Champions League game on Thursday and the Nigerian will try to show Mikel Arteta why he should have insisted the Gunners sign him.
