Awoniyi Rewards Stars as KFA Crown Kwara Kiddies League Season IV in Style
The Kwara Kiddies League Season IV came to a vibrant close as Kwara Football Academy (KFA) were crowned champions after securing a 1–0 victory over Gaa Akanbi Kids in the Grand Finale.
Although KFA had already wrapped up the title with five matches to spare, they ended the campaign in commanding fashion. Jimoh Kamaldeen’s well‑taken strike in the 182nd match of the season proved decisive, sealing a memorable finish for the Ilorin-based academy, who amassed a record‑equalling 66 points.
The Grand Finale was elevated by a colourful awards ceremony, where Super Eagles forward Taiwo Awoniyi added glamour and excitement by offering cash rewards and scholarships to outstanding performers.
His gesture reinforced the league’s growing reputation as a platform dedicated to nurturing grassroots football talent. Each of the fifteen players selected for the Team of the Season received ₦100,000, while winners of the major individual categories, including Goalkeeper, Defender, Midfielder, Top Striker, Young Player, Manager of the Season and Referee of the Year, were awarded ₦150,000 each.
Abubakar Solihu of Gaa Akanbi Kids was named Goalkeeper of the Season, while KFA’s Eko Martins enjoyed a standout campaign that earned him both the Player of the Season and Defender of the Season honours.
Afeez Azeez of Afrikan Kiddies FA claimed the Midfielder of the Season award, and Unicorn FA’s Ajibola Gidado emerged as the league’s Top Striker. In the U‑13 category, Arisekola Faruq of Busari FA was celebrated as the Soliu Sanusi Revelation of the Season.
The Team of the Season featured Solihu in goal, with defenders Eko Martins, Abdullahi Kamaldeen, Yunus Abdulmajeed and Soliu Kamaldeen forming the backline.
The midfield trio included Afeez Azeez, Isiak Mustapha and Jimoh Mubarak, while Adeoye Tobi, Gidado Ajibola and Abdulhamid Yunus led the attack. The reserve list comprised Muritala Azeez, Abdulwahab Abdulsamad, January Goodluck and Oluwaseyi Adeyemi.
Additional honours went to Emmanuel Ajewole, who was named Referee of the Year, while KFA’s Oluwaseyi Ajayi received the Manager of the Season award. Unicorn FA also earned recognition as winners of the Fair Play Award.
