Awoniyi seeking to be Nothingham Forest match winner for the fourth time

As relegation haunted side host Man United in a must-win game at City Ground on Sunday

Taiwo Awoniyi will be seeking to be Nothingham Forest’s match winner when they host Manchester United at the City Ground on Sunday.

The Nigerian joined Forest last summer and is on the verge of getting relegated with his team in his first season in the English topflight.

Awoniyi has been his club’s saviour on three ocassions so far this year, scoring the vital goals that have secured all three points for Forest.

The 25 year old scored the only goal in the victories over West Ham in August, Liverpool in October and Southampton this January before a groin injury forced him to miss nine Premier League games for his club.

The Nigerian is back and believes Forest will not return to the Championship.

Awoniyi told BBC Radio Nottingham: ‘The goal is to believe in ourselves and believe in what we’re doing.

‘The fans have been brilliant for us, we need them to keep the support and keep the belief.

‘We’ll do everything in our power that we can and this is what we are here for – to stay in the Premier League.

‘We are not here to go down.

‘We just have to look into ourselves and get better at our games, which is the most important thing.’
