Babatunde sets Guinness World Record for Longest Hairdressing Marathon, NSC celebrates his achievement
The National Sports Commission (NSC) has congratulated Joshua Aiyenuro Babatunde for successfully setting a new Guinness World Record for the longest professional hairdressing marathon, which he completed at the velodrome of the Abuja National Stadium.
Popularly known as Tjosh, Babatunde embarked on the record-breaking challenge on 10 June 2025, concluding the marathon on Tuesday, 17 June 2025.
The remarkable achievement drew widespread recognition, with NSC Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko and Director General Hon Bukola Olopade among the top dignitaries who visited Babatunde during the marathon to cheer and motivate him.
Speaking on this milestone, Mallam Shehu Dikko commended Babatunde’s resilience, calling it a reflection of the determination and ingenuity of Nigerian youth. He emphasized that this achievement aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to youth capacity building:
‘I am not surprised with this latest feat coming from another Nigerian youth because our youthful population are the most resilient, dogged, and hardworking in the world.’
The NSC Chairman also highlighted the significance of Babatunde’s accomplishment on the global stage:
‘I want to specially congratulate him for putting Nigeria on the world map once again, showcasing our nation as a pacesetter and history-maker in the creative industry.’
