Bassey Targets Strong Finish as Fulham Chase Europe

Fulham defender Calvin Bassey has dismissed suggestions that the team has lost its edge, insisting motivation remains high as the Premier League season enters its decisive stage.

Speaking to Premier League Productions after three matches without a win, Bassey emphasized the influence of manager Marco Silva in keeping the squad sharp.

‘The edge hasn’t been lost. The Manager would never let us lose it. He’s so passionate every single time, every single session, and that helps us stay motivated,’ he said.

With eight games left, Fulham remain in contention for European qualification, sitting just four points off seventh place.

Bassey believes the team is well placed to push for a historic achievement.

‘We feel like we’re so close to our goal. The atmosphere in the changing room is excitement, because we know we’ve got a chance to do something amazing, achieve something great,’ he added.

The Nigerian international, who could make his 87th Premier League appearance and 94th overall for Fulham across all competitions if selected against Burnley on Saturday, stressed the importance of every point in the run-in.

‘Each point is so vital at this stage. A win against Burnley could move us up three places if other results go our way,’ he noted.

Bassey has scored once in the Premier League and is aiming to make his third consecutive start when Fulham host Burnley at a sold-out Craven Cottage.
