Bayelsa Announces Maiden Yenagoa City International 10km Road Race
The Bayelsa State Government has officially unveiled plans for the maiden edition of the Yenagoa City International 10KM Road Race, scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 4, 2026.
The event, organized in collaboration with Nilayo Sports Management Limited, is themed ‘The Reveal’ and aims to position Bayelsa as a premier destination for global sports tourism.
The race will flag off at 9:30 a.m. from Opolo Roundabout, taking runners through a scenic 10-kilometre course that highlights the vibrant atmosphere of Yenagoa.
Athletes will cross the finish line at Peace Park Square, where a grand celebration awaits, including a post-race concert featuring top A-list artistes.
Registration is currently open online at [www.yenagoacity10kmrace.com] (http://www.yenagoacity10kmrace.com), with physical forms available at the Sports Department Office, Ministry of Sports, Sports Complex, opposite First Baptist Church, Ovom, Yenagoa.
Participants are expected to collect their race kits and bibs between March 30 and April 3, 2026, at Peace Park Square.
Organizers confirmed that the race is on track for World Athletics accreditation, a move that will further elevate its international standing.
