Bayern Munich 1-1 Man City: Guardiola, Haaland set Champions League record
It was a record-setting night for the duo of coach Pep Guardiola and forward, Erlind Haaland as Manchester City become the third English team to qualify for the UEFA Champions League semi-finals in three consecutive seasons, along with Chelsea and Manchester United (both 2006-07 to 2008-09).
The Cityzens were forced to a 1-1 draw by their host, Bayern Munich at the Allianz as they progressed 4-1 on aggregate after annihilating the Bavarian club 3-0 in the first leg in Manchester last week.
With the victory, Man City boss, Guardiola becomes the first manager in Champions League history to reach the semi-finals in 10 different seasons ahead of Real Madrid’s Carlo Ancelotti who made it the ninth time after his side dumped Chelsea out on Tuesday on a 4-0 aggregate score.
Meanwhile, Haaland has equalled former Manchester United striker, Ruud van Nistelrooy after scoring Man City’s only goal in the draw in Munich Wednesday night.
The Norwegian and van Nistelrooy have scored the most goals, 12 each, for an English club in a single Champions League campaign.

Haaland also becomes the first player who has scored more Champions League goals for a Premier League club in a single season.
Kevin De Bruyne provided the assist for Haaland’s goal, his 23rd of the season in all competitions this season. It is his most in a single campaign for Man City and five more than any player for clubs in Europe’s big-five leagues in 2022-23.
