Bayern Smash St Pauli 5-0 to Break Bundesliga Scoring Record

Bayern Munich stormed into the history books on Saturday evening, thrashing St Pauli 5-0 to set a new Bundesliga single-season scoring record.

Vincent Kompany’s side needed just two goals to surpass the 54-year-old mark of 101 set by Bayern’s legendary 1971/72 team featuring Franz Beckenbauer, Gerd Müller and Uli Hoeness.

They did far more, hitting five without reply to take their tally to 105 goals with six matches still to play.

Harry Kane, who returned from an ankle injury to score in midweek against Real Madrid, was again on target, continuing his pursuit of Robert Lewandowski’s all-time Bundesliga record of 41 goals in a season. Kane now has 32 goals in 27 league appearances.

Michael Olise also shone, adding to his remarkable campaign with another goal and assist. The French-born winger has now scored 19 Bundesliga goals, closing in on Thomas Müller’s record of 21 for a midfielder in a single season.
