Besiktas sign D’Tigress power forward, Amy Okonkwo

Beşiktaş BOA basketball team has added Nigerian basketball player Amy Nnenna Okonkwo to their roster who recently played for Bourges in France and plays as a power forward.

In the statement made by the black-and-white club, “Our Beşiktaş BOA Women’s Basketball Team signed a contract with Nigerian player Amy Nnenna Okonkwo as part of the transfer activities for the 2025-2026 season.

‘She started her professional career with NCAA side USC in 2014 and plays as a power forward. We welcome Okonkwo to the Beşiktaş family and wish her outstanding success with our glorious jersey.”

Okonkwo has previously played in the U.S., Spanish, French, Israeli, and Mexican leagues in her professional basketball career.

The Nigerian played a total of 38 games for French side Bourges last season, averaging 14.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists.

She was a member of the D’Tigress team that made history at the Paris 2024 Olympics where they became the first African team to reach the quarterfinals of the women’s basketball event at the greatest multisport fiesta in the world.

A year earlier, she was named MVP of the 2023 AfroBasket which the Nigerian Ladies won.
