Besiktas weighing up move for Terem Moffi
Besiktas are weighing up a move for Nigerian forward Terem Moffi after his representatives offered him to the Turkish giants in the wake of his troubled spell at OGC Nice.
According to Sabah, Besiktas are actively searching for a new striker following the departure of Tammy Abraham to Aston Villa, and Moffi has emerged as a candidate.
The 26-year-old Super Eagles star was previously linked with Fenerbahçe, but his situation at Nice has deteriorated after a run of poor results sparked fan unrest.
Reports in Sabah revealed that Nice supporters stormed the team bus after recent defeats, directing insults and even racist abuse at Moffi and teammate Jérémie Boga.
In response, Moffi has formally approached the French Professional Football League’s legal commission to request the termination of his contract.
‘Besiktas have been offered Moffi, who wants to leave Nice after the incidents with fans,’ Sabah reported. ‘The player’s camp believes he can be the right replacement for Abraham, but the club has not yet given a clear positive or negative response.’
Moffi joined Nice from Lorient in the summer of 2023 for €22.5 million, but his market value has since dropped to around €10 million. This season he has featured in 15 official matches, playing 786 minutes and scoring three goals.
Besiktas are understood to be monitoring the situation closely, with the club’s hierarchy yet to decide whether to pursue the Nigerian forward. For Moffi, a move to Istanbul could represent a fresh start after a turbulent period in Ligue 1.
