Boniface gets one match ban, 25,000 euros fine for unsportsmanlike conduct

Bayer Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface has been handed a one-match ban and 25,000 euros by the Sports Tribunal of the German Football Association (DFB) following charges of unsportsmanlike conduct brought against the Nigerian.

Boniface had given the players of the German Super Cup runners-up, VfB Stuttgart his outstretched left middle finger as he ran past immediately after the final whistle last Saturday.

Match referee, Tobias Stieler had explained that he had not seen the Nigerian do it and this prevented the DFB control committee from investigating and press charges retrospectively.

Boniface and Leverkusen agreed to the verdict, the verdict is therefore legally binding.
