Bonmati named Women’s Ballon d’Or winner for the second year in a row
Aitana Bonmati has been deservedly named the Women’s Ballon d’Or at a ceremony on Monday night following a season marked by five trophies, including the Champions League with FC Barcelona.
Bonmati is winning for the second straight year after succeeding her clubmate, Alexia Putellas who also did the double in 2021 and 2022.
The 26 year old scored 26 goals and provided 21 assists in 57 matches and won everything winnable.
She won the Spanish Championship, the Queen’s Cup, the Spanish Super Cup and the UEFA Champions League where she scored six goals and bagged five assists including a goal in the 2-0 defeat of Lyon in the final.
