Botswana Golden Grand Prix and Kenya’s Kip Keino Classic retain status as Gold level meetings in 2024

Botswana Golden Grand Prix and the Kip Keino Classic have retained their status as one of the 12 Gold level meetings confirmed by World Athletics as part of
the 2024 World Athletics Continental Tour.
The two meetings have been included in the calendar for 2024 World Athletics Continental Tour with the Gaborone event, the Botswana Golden Grand Prix holding
on Sunday, April 14 and the Kip Keino Classic holding six days later (Saturday, April 20) in Nairobi, Kenya.
These two events are among more than 190 meetings included in next year’s tour, which is divided into four levels – Gold, Silver, Bronze and Challenger.
The Botswana Golden Grand Prix became a gold level meeting in 2023 after it was held as a bronze level event in 2022 as Gaborone International Meet.
Nigeria’s Ese Brume began her outdoor campaign in the long jump at the meet, leaping a distance of 6.77m to win ahead of Burkina Faso’s Marthe Koala.
The Kip Keino Classic have produced some world class sprinting with Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce one of the notable pefrormers with the 10.67 she ran to open her
outdoor campaign in 2022.
The Jamaican would go on to win the women’s 100m title at the World Athletics Championships later that year in Eugene, Oregon, USA.
Home boy, Ferdinand Omanyala also set his 9.77 African 100m record at the meeting in September 2021.
