Breaking: Amusan out of Zurich Diamond League Final!
World 100m hurdles record holder, Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan is out of Thursday’s Diamond League final in Zurich.
The Nigerian’s name was conspicuously missing when Sportsnow.com.ng checked the final start list for the 100m hurdles on the Diamond League website.
Amusan qualified to run in the final after coming second in the event’s final standing behind Grace Stark of the USA and was duly confirmed for the race as at Tuesday night.
No official explanation has been given for her disappearance from the official start list on the eve of the final.
The 28 year old’s dream of winning her third Diamond League Trophy in Zurich after winning there in 2021 and 2022, and fourth overall to equal Dawn Nelson Harper’s record of four 100m hurdles win has now been ended.
Meanwhile, the two Nigerians now left in the race, Udodi Onwuzurike and Ezekiel Nathaniel have been confirmed.
Onwuzurike will run from lane 1 with Olympic champion, Letsile Tebogo running just outside World champion Noah Lyles in lane 7.
In the 400m hurdles, Ezekiel has been drawn in lane five while pre-race favourites, Karsten Warholm will run from lane 7.
