Breaking: Rivers State Governor, Fubara splashes extra N5m each on elite race marathon winners, N1m each for 2nd to 20th finishers

Nyanza Boyi of Nigeria and Peninah Arusei of Kenya, winners of the men and women’s race at the first Rivers International Marathon has been rewarded with an extra N5m each outside the winning prize money of USD$10,000 by Rivers state Governor, Sim Fubara. The sports loving Governor also rewarded the 2nd to the 20th finishers with N1m each outside their respective winning prizes. Boyish ran 2:28:29 to win the men’s race while Arusei ran 2:48:23 to win the women’s race. Boyi has also won the N5m star prize for finishing as the first Nigerian I the race.
