CAF Champions League: Rivers United Beaten at Home, Remain Winless in Group A

Rivers United’s hopes of advancing in the CAF Champions League suffered another setback as they fell 1-0 at home to Power Dynamos, who claimed their first CAF Champions’ League group-stage victory in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state.
The decisive moment arrived just five minutes into the second half when Kundwani Chiboni latched onto a precise pass from Prince Mumba and coolly slotted past the goalkeeper to silence the home crowd.
Rivers United, desperate for their first win of the campaign, dominated possession in spells but lacked cutting edge in the final third. The Nigerian side’s best efforts were consistently thwarted by a disciplined Dynamos defence and a composed display between the posts.
After conceding, the hosts pushed forward with urgency, launching wave after wave of attacks, but the Zambian champions held firm, repelling every threat to preserve their slender lead.
Despite late pressure, Rivers United failed to carve out clear chances, and Power Dynamos managed the closing stages with maturity to secure a vital away win.
The result lifts Dynamos to four points in Group A, keeping them in contention for qualification, while Rivers United remain bottom with just one point from four matches, leaving their hopes of progress hanging by a thread.
