CAF hails Troost-Ekong as Captain, Leader, MVP at 31

Confederation of African Football, CAF, has hailed Super Eagles stand-in captain at last year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire as a captain, leader and Most Valuable Player as the Nigerian clocks 31 years on earth.
The governing body for football on the African continent wrote on its X handle: Captain. Leader. MVP. Wishing a very happy birthday to the #TotalEnergiesAFCON2023 Man of the Competition, William Troost-Ekong.’
Troost-Ekong led Nigeria to a second place finish at the AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire, scoring three goals from his center back position and was voted the Most Valuable Player of the competition.
Now playing for Saudi Pro League side, Al-Kholood, Troost-Ekong is in Nigeria’s team for the two qualifying games for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
