Cairo to Host 12th All Africa University Games in 2026
The Federation of African University Sports (FASU) has announced that Cairo, Egypt, will host the 12th All Africa University Games from August 9 to 16, 2026.
The event will gather student athletes, university leaders, and stakeholders from across the continent for one of Africa’s largest university sporting festivals.
Organized in partnership with the Egyptian Universities Sports Federation and leading institutions in Egypt, the Games will serve as a major platform for competition, collaboration, and continental engagement.
Nigeria is among the nations expected to participate in the week-long event.
The FASU Games remain a flagship sporting occasion for African universities, featuring a diverse range of disciplines including athletics, football, basketball, volleyball, swimming, table tennis, and combat sports.
Beyond competition, the Games will also incorporate developmental and educational programmes such as the FASU Pre-Games Scientific Conference, the Vice Chancellors Forum, and the FISU-FASU NUSF Seminar, all designed to strengthen governance, research, and collaboration within the university sports ecosystem.
Additional initiatives, including the FASU International Volunteers Programme and cultural activities, will enrich the experience, offering students opportunities for leadership development, intercultural exchange, and practical involvement.
As preparations begin, universities across Africa are gearing up for what promises to be a landmark gathering of talent, innovation, and unity. The 2026 edition underscores FASU’s commitment to advancing university sports, promoting excellence, and fostering stronger connections across the continent.
