Calvert-Lewin hails Lookman as one of the best dribblers he’s played with
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has described his former Everton teammate Ademola Lookman as one of the most gifted dribblers he has ever played alongside.
The striker made the remark during an interview with CBS Golazo, where he was asked to select five ex-Everton teammates for a five-a-side team.
Lookman, now at Atletico Madrid, spent two years at Goodison Park and made 48 appearances for the club.
While his time at Everton did not fully showcase the qualities he displays today, Calvert-Lewin insists his dribbling ability was clear even then.
‘He’s probably one of the most gifted players I’ve played with in terms of dribbling and the way he handles the ball,’ Calvert-Lewin said.
‘I’m so happy for him the way he’s got his move to Atletico now and how he’s thriving there, I think it’s much deserved. He’s bided his time, and now he’s there and everyone’s seeing what a great player he is.’
Lookman’s departure from Everton in 2019 came after manager Marco Silva admitted the winger had expressed a desire to leave.
With only two years left on his contract, the club eventually sanctioned a move to RB Leipzig, where Lookman began to flourish.
His development continued at Atalanta, culminating in him being named African Footballer of the Year in 2024.
