Camacho-Quinn drawn in very tough 100m hurdles semifinal heat, says: ‘I wasn’t running all out to run 12.42’

Defending Olympics 100m hurdles champion and record holder, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn says she knows what she is capable of delivering on the track after running 12.42, the fastest qualifying time in the opening round of the event at the Paris Olympics but the 27 year old will have to walk the talk in the semifinal where she has been drawn to compete with the top three fastest women in the event this year.

‘I just had to talk to myself, get myself ready. I knew what I was capable of, so I just wanted to go out there and enjoy myself,” the Puerto Rican told reporters after completing the race in 12.42 seconds. “It’s a great feeling. I wasn’t running all out to run 12.42.’

Camacho-Quinn will have to go all out this time to run very fast and fastest in her semifinal heat where she has been pitted against world leader at 12.25, Masai Russell of the USA as well ad the second fastest at 12.28, Ackera Nuggent of Jamaica and former World Indoor 60m champion, French girl, Cyréna Samba-Mayela who is joint third fastest at 12.31 with USA duo of Alaysha Johnson and Grace Stark who are also competing in the event in Paris.

Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan is looking to become the first Nigerian, man or woman, to be crowned World and Olympic champion and will run in the first semifinal where she has been drawn to run with Danielle Williams, the reigning World cchampion, Deyvnee Charlton, the World indoor champion and Stark, the American.
