Camacho-Quinn still angry with how she relinquished her Olympic 100m hurdles title

Jasmine Camacho-Quinn says she is still trying to cope with her inability to successfully defend her Olympic title in Paris last month.

The Puerto Rican ran 12.38 to win her first 100m hurdles Diamond League title ahead of Jamaica’s Ackera Nugent who had set the post-Olympics circuit on fire, running inside 12.30 thrice with a 12.24 world leading time to cap what has proved to be a disappointing season for the 22-year-old.

The 28-year-old Camacho-Quinn was not happy with her performance at the King Baudouin Stadium but happy to end her season with a global title.

‘Performance wise it was a bit sloppy today, but it’s really cold. I did the best I could and I was able to win, so I finally have that trophy,’ she said but revealed she has gotten over the disappointment of losing in Paris.

‘I got bronze in Paris, but I wasn’t satisfied with that. I almost false started there and when I realized that, I held back a little bit and then the gun went off, something that minor cost me the gold medal.

‘It was difficult to accept, because I was in great shape and I was ready to make history and to win my second gold medal at the Olympics, but it is what it is and I cannot go back and change it. Now I’m just looking forward,’ said Camacho-Quinn.

Looking forward will mean winning her first World outdoor title when the train moves to Tokyo, Japan next September after finishing third in 2022 and second in 2023.
