‘Captain’ Bukayo Saka’s new Thierry Henry!

Arsenal ‘captain’, Bukayo Saka has become the first player in 20 years in Premier League history to assist a goal in five straight opening games of a season since Thierry Henry did so in 2024/25 season.

Saka provided the assist for Gabriel to head Arsenal into the lead in their blockbuster game away at Manchester City on Sunday.

Erling Haaland scored on ninth minute for his 100th goal in England to put the Cityzens ahead before Riccardo Calafiori restored parity for the Gunners.

Gabriel then headed Arsenal in front after Saka’s cross finds him at the back post, and, despite being marked, rises highest and finds the top corner.

Saka has now assisted a goal in all five games Arsenal have played so far to equal Henry’s feat.

The 23-year-old scored and assisted in his and Arsenal’s opening win against Wolves before providing an assist each in the 2-0 win at Aston Villa, the 1-1 home draw against Brighton, the 1-0 win at Tottenham and now in the game at the Etihad.

Saka now sits top of the Premier League assists chart with five, followed by Chelsea’s Cole Palmer and Mo Salah of Liverpool on four each and Wilfred Ndidi with three in third position.
