Christantus Uche Makes History with Back-to-Back Matchday 1 Goals for Getafe

Nigerian forward Christantus Uche has etched his name into LaLiga history books with a remarkable feat for Getafe CF, becoming the first known Nigerian player to score in two consecutive Matchday 1 fixtures for the same Spanish top-flight club.
Uche, who burst onto the scene last season with a debut goal in Getafe’s opening match, returned this weekend with another electrifying performance—scoring and assisting in the club’s season opener against Celta Vigo.
His contribution not only secured a vital win for the Azulones but also marked a rare statistical achievement in LaLiga’s Nigerian player history.
The 21-year-old’s performance mirrors his own record from January 2025, when he also scored and assisted in a league match against Real Sociedad.
With his latest display, Uche becomes the second Getafe player ever to record both a goal and an assist on Matchday 1, following Riki’s performance against Espanyol in 2005.
Uche’s consistency and flair have quickly made him a fan favorite and a rising star in Spanish football.
