Christantus Uche’s EPL Future in Doubt After Loan Spell
Crystal Palace have decided against making Christantus Uche’s loan move from Getafe permanent.
The Nigeria international’s contract included an obligatory purchase clause if he started ten Premier League matches, but with the Eagles’ recent win over Tottenham, there are not enough fixtures left to trigger that condition.
Uche has not started a single Premier League game this season. Instead, he has been used primarily as a substitute, coming off the bench in 14 league matches and remaining unused in 11. That leaves Palace with only the option of a voluntary purchase if they want to keep him.
Getafe rate Uche highly but are under financial pressure and open to selling him this summer.
The 22-year-old has featured 22 times across all competitions for Crystal Palace, scoring twice and providing one assist. His standout contribution came in December 2025, when he set up a goal in the 4-1 defeat to Leeds United at Elland Road.
Interestingly, both of Uche’s goals arrived in the UEFA Conference League, where he made four appearances. Those flashes of quality underline his potential, but Palace’s reluctance to commit suggests they remain unconvinced about his readiness for a bigger role in England.
Unless Palace change course and negotiate a voluntary deal, Uche will return to Madrid this summer.
