Chukwueze, Simon, six others arrive Eagles’ Abidjan nest ahead Benin Republic AFCON 2025 qualifier
AC Milan winger, Samuel Chukwueze and Nantes of France star, Moses Simon are among the first set of players to arrive in Super Eagles’ Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire camp ahead of Thursday penultimate round of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Cheetahs of Republic of Benin.
Also in camp are Bendel Insurance of Benin goalkeeper, Amas Obasogie, Club Brugge of Belgium midfielder, Raphael Onyedika, Augsburg of Germany’s Frank Onyeka, Boavista left back, Bruno Onyemaechi, Gabriel Osho of Ligue 1 side, AJ Auxerre and Lazio of Italy midfielder, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.
According to the media officer of the team, Promise Efoghe, more players are on their way and a full house is expected on Tuesday.
The Super Eagles need just a draw to confirm their place in next year’s Africa Cup of Nations as one of the two qualifiers from their group while a win will guarantee they finish as leader of the group.
Among those expected are captain William Troost-Ekong who is expected to jet in from Saudi Arabia, 2024 Africa Player of the Year nominee, Ademola Lookman and in-form Galatasaray of Turkey striker, Victor Osimhen.
Others are the Premier League quartet of Alex Iwobi, Ola Aina, Calvin Bassey and Wilfred Ndidi as well as the LaLiga duo of Kelechi Iheanacho and Sadiq Umar.
