CIES Football Observatory: Boniface, not Osimhen, is most valuable Nigerian player!

Bayer Leverkusen forward, Victor Boniface is currently the Nigerian player with the highest value in the transfer market, according to the CIES Football Observatory’s statistical model.

Boniface, according to the CIES Football Observatory’s statistical model, is now worth €86.5m following the latest update released by CIES Football Observatory on Wednesday.

This is almost €1m more than Victor Osimhen’s €85.6m valuation after the Napoli player failed to inspire the Serie A title to successfully defend the Scudetto he helped them to win last season.

Boniface’s rise was made possible after netting 21 goals in 34 games across all competitions in his first year in Germany. 14 of the goals came in 23 Bundesliga appearances with the Nigerian helping Leverkusen to its first Bundesliga title as well as set an unbeaten record in the competition. He was also named the Rookie of the year.

The Nigerian is the third most valuable African after Senegal’s Chelsea forward, Nichola Jackson who is worth €99.3m and Ghana’s West Ham star attacking midfielder, Mohammed Kudus who is worth €89.6m.
