Conte: Osimhen stays out of Napoli squad for the season!
Antonio Conte says Victor Osimhen is not part of his plans and the Nigerian will remain so regardless of his transfer status after all transfer window closes later this month.
Osimhen still has until Monday evening to secure a move to another club in the Saudi Pro League after Napoli rejected the offer from Al Ahli.
Conte insists he is happy with his team after he watched them comeback from a goal down to score two quick goals in added time against Parma on Sunday night.
The player the former Chelsea coach brought in for the revival, Romelu Lukaku scored the equalizer on 92 minutes before André-Frank Zambo Anguissa scored the winner four minutes later.
This was after the Partenopei had trailed the visitors for over 70 minutes after Ange Bonny gave them the lead from the penalty spot on 19 minutes.
‘No player will be reintegrated. Those who are out of the project will remain out of the project. We made our choices and work in one direction all together,’ Conte said after the game.
Napoli sporting director, Giovanni Manna had before the match revealed why Osimhen will not be brought back into the team.
‘The situation is very clear. Victor expressed his absolute desire to not stay at, or play for, Napoli. We tried to make him happy.
‘Then there was demand and an offer, and we thought we had concluded negotiations, but then it didn’t go through. He expressed his desire to no longer play for Napoli and so we made other choices.
‘The transfer market is still open [in some countries], so there are many options, but I don’t think Victor will go to Saudi Arabia,’he told DAZN.
