Daga’s Lawyer: Sexual Encounter Was Consensual as Ex-Flying Eagles Star Vows to Clear Name

Molde FK midfielder Daniel Daga is facing indictment in Norway for sexual activity without consent under Penal Code § 297, but his legal team has strongly rejected the allegations.

Speaking after the charges were confirmed, Daga’s lawyer, Astrid Bolstad, acknowledged that a sexual encounter took place but stressed that it was mutually consensual.

‘My client insists that he has not done anything illegal and does not admit guilt,’ Bolstad said.

She added that the defense was surprised by the indictment given the course of the investigation and emphasized that there is no suspicion of violence or threats in the case.

Bolstad explained that Daga is deeply affected by the situation but remains determined to clear his name. ‘He looks forward to having the case heard in court so that he can prove his innocence,’ she stated.

The Nigerian U-20 star has fully cooperated with police throughout the investigation, participating in all interviews, while Molde FK has provided him with close support.

The club has suspended him from training and matches until the matter is resolved, but confirmed that he will return to Norway ahead of the court proceedings scheduled for March 2026.

Molde FK chairman Odd Ivar Moen underscored the seriousness of the case, noting that the club has also reached out to the woman’s legal representative to acknowledge the strain involved.

However, the defense maintains that Daga has been wrongly indicted and is confident the judicial process will vindicate him.
